Safe Halloween with Baby

Halloween is a fun time for the whole family, but it's important to take extra precautions when celebrating with a baby. Here are some tips for a safe and spooky Halloween with your little one:

Costume safety

  • Choose a costume that is made of breathable, non-flammable fabric.
  • Use bright colored costumes, lights, and lighted strollers.
  • Avoid costumes with long, trailing fabric or loose accessories that could pose a hazard.
  • Consider using baby noise cancelling ear muffs.

Trick-or-treating safety

  • If you go trick-or-treating with your baby, keep your route short and stay in well-lit areas.
  • Supervise your baby closely at all times and keep them away from open flames, candles, and other fire hazards.
  • Don't forget to bring a blanket and extra clothes.
  • Flashlights are a must.
  • Take breaks often and bring along snacks, formula, and drinks for baby & mommy.
  • The first trick or treating photos are precious but make sure you have one person in charge of photos and one person in charge of baby watching.

Home safety

  • If you're giving out candy, keep your candy bowl out of reach of your baby and other young children.
  • Be mindful of your Halloween decorations and make sure they're not a choking hazard for your baby.
  • Put away any sharp objects or other potential hazards (like lighters).
  • Keep a close eye on your baby when they're around candles, jack-o'-lanterns, and other open flames.

Have fun and enjoy this special time with your baby!
